About

The credential became the company.

I'm Greg Tresler. Before Local Guide was a brand, it was a badge.

Greg Tresler, founder of Local Guide Marketing

I started as a Google Local Guide, one of the people out there reviewing, photographing, and mapping local businesses for the love of it. That ground-level view of how Google actually sees local businesses turned into a specialization, and the specialization turned into six-plus years spent inside one surface: the Google Business Profile.

When it came time to name the business, there was only one honest answer. I didn't come to local search from the marketing side. I came from inside Google's own local ecosystem, and the system I built carries that DNA.

Why I teach first

Five-plus years of profile work taught me that the biggest problem in local marketing isn't Google. It's that owners are kept in the dark, because confusion is profitable. So I built the inverse: a free academy, a weekly webinar that gives away the real strategy, and a system I'll happily teach anyone to run. The paid tiers exist for owners who understand the system and simply want it run for them.

The specialist who refused to generalize

Most marketers respond to years of experience by widening the menu. I went the other way, deeper into one surface, because that's where local buying decisions actually happen. My agency brand, Houston Digital Marketing, exists for businesses that need everything. Local Guide Marketing exists because one thing, done at true depth, beats ten things done adequately.
